a state of being or existence above and beyond the limits of material experience
'Aletheia'
Motivation & Research plan
Research question
Aletheia wishes to manifest an existential experience similar to the one that is described in some occult texts. In which the world is experienced through ONENESS. Through this prism, the piece asks to join together three different elements that shed light on one another: a dance performance, an internet website and an interwoven sonoric connection in order to create one cohesive creation.
My artistic motivation derives from a deep interest in the tension between hegemonic systems of control and spontaneous manifestations of insurrection. In this grid of alternating power structures 'I' exists as a thinking and responding vessel. 'I' can represent systems, undermine them or use ones in order to represent others. 'I' responds to the actual Feedback accumulation of information, social and historical. 'I' tries to differentiate between submission, rebelion, ingenuity, interactivity and connectivity through different models made available easily through the World Wide Web.
One of the models i have found to be instrumental for the realization of my research is the field of cybernetics(click link) , while the other is the field of Esoterics (link).
Since rational materialistic discourse tends to catapult artistic endevours back into a political grid of identity, influences and power, I would like my research to focus on changing the operating system from left/right politics, and suggest esoteric influences as primary context, alter the spectator's stance as consumer into one that might offer the liberty to 'transcend'.
How does one communicate esoteric thought as a means inside the paradigm of a participatory dance event? And what sort of artistic context and medium will support such a complex stirring and interaction?
"(...) religion and mysticism offer a different kind of medicine. transcendentalism is the acceptance of the emptiness itself and the unreality of phenomena as symptoms of our temporary estrangement from some greater fullness of reality, be it nirvana, god or enlightenment (..)"

In my music studies I have encountered modernistic methods of music compositioning and I was especially effected by the movement of the Spectralists that by utilizing technological advancements penetrated into the structure of sound itself and used its components as compositional material. This lens offered me two work models which can also be viewed as magical acts, click HERE to see these two modes.
